Triumph of Leftist Forces in Greece and Central Europe Predicted

leftist-greeceThe leader of the Greek coalition Syriza, Alexis Tsipras, predicted today a turn left in Central Europe if there is convergence of progressive forces favorable to social and political change.

That collaboration will detain austerity policies that created masses of unemployed and poor, affirmed Tsipras in a press round at the Congress of Deputies of Spain after meeting with the federal coordinator of Izquierda Unida, Cayo Lara.

About the polls that signal the victory of Syriza in Greece for the 2015 elections, the Greek political leader considered that prediction is a result of the credibility of his proposals to face the economic crisis.

In 2015, he predicted, there will be a political change in Greece and austerity will begin to end with the government of the radical and social left.

Besides meeting with Lara, Tsipras will participate tomorrow in the proclamation ceremony of the directive of Podemos, a recently created Spanish party that resulted in the third most voted organization in the May elections for the European Parliament.

Questioned about the possible convergence of both organizations with which Syriza maintains cooperation at the European Parliament, Tsipras affirmed there are no recipes for the success of convergence.

The success of Syriza, he stressed, is due to a combination of credibility and stability of its political positions, a code of communication that facilitates understanding of the message and the historic moment.

Tsipras believes that Izquierda Unida can also combine these factors in the Spanish context to become, together with other forces, an alternative to neoliberalism, austerity and social cuts.

Lara, on his part, warned of the hard-core positions on the part of the economic power before possible changes in Greece, stand that -he said- should be fought from all fronts.

He added that Syriza and Izquierda Unida agreed to increase coordination with initiatives in the parliaments of Greece, Spain and the European parliament to celebrate a forum of the southern Europe countries on January 25, 2015 in Barcelona.

At that meeting, he said, will be discussed the problem of the sovereign debt of the States, immigration as a European problem and not only of the developing countries and the continental integration from the solidarity point of view. (PL)
