Human Rights Council Challenged due to Lack of Concrete Actions

worldThe 28th session of the Human Rights Council is today on its third day of work under the persistent challenge of taking actions to improve the international situation of those rights.

In Monday’s speeches, all speakers expressed support for the issue and most of them referred to the achievements made in their respective countries, while mentioning some of the major challenges.

The Council meets several times every year, however, experts pointed out that despite punctual achievements in some issues and nations, no major progress has been made.

The Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) on Monday stressed that dialogue, tolerance and international cooperation are indispensable to advance in the human rights issue in the world.

No major progress has been made in that matter, and the obstacles to achieve development remain, the NAM said.

The multiple and complex challenges in today’s world demand global solutions through international cooperation and inclusive mechanisms for the sake of a democratic, fair and equitable order, it stressed.

Therefore, it considered that more commitment by all parties is necessary, as well as implementing practical measures with constructive approaches to promote and advocate human rights, and understanding the common challenges that hinder their enjoyment.

The 28th session of the Human Rights Council will be held at the Palace of the Nations, the UN headquarters in Geneva, until March 27. (PL)
