Students and Police Clash in Acapulco, Mexico

protestasTeachers college students in the Mexican state of Guerrero and riot police agents clashed in the tourist area of the city of Acapulco, where the students were protesting the disappearance of the students in Ayotzinapa. Groups of teachers college students were headed for the international airport in Acapulco when the police agents blocked their way, leading to the clash that according to State spokespeople, caused injuries to 18 federal agents.

Later, Felipe de la Cruz, father of one of the Ayotzinapa students, held a telephone conversation with Guerrero government undersecretary, who according to versions by the newspaper Excelsior, authorized the march, with the promise of keeping it peaceful.

After negotiations, the police agents withdrew to clear the way for several hundreds of demonstrators, who according to the newspaper, were carrying sticks and Molotov cocktails. (PL)
