DECKS: DJ Kymm D

If there is one person that can melt away the winter blahs it would be DJ Kymm D. Not only is she a super talented DJ, but also a down to earth and charismatic individual. She always exudes such great vibes and has a fresh style all her own. Kymm D is the kind of DJ that can get you up on your feet and give you a show you won’t soon forget.

It’s hard to fathom but Kymm D grew up on a farm in a small town on the prairies. It wasn’t long before little Kymm D got the itch for something new and set forth on a journey that would bring her all over Canada and Europe. Her first stops were Ottawa and Vancouver, where she first had the chance to hit the decks and she hasn’t looked back since. Her need for change and sense of adventure brought her to England and Ireland during its electronic music scene heyday. While in Europe, Kymm D had the opportunity to spin at several clubs, bars and after-parties in the London and Cork City house music circuit. She made a name for herself both as a DJ and as a well-known radio personality hosting her own show on Ireland’s #1 radio station. Not only did she pick up her own unique sound, she met the man of her dreams, Tom, to whom she will soon marry.

After a successful and exciting stint in Europe, she and Tom made their way back to Canadian soil to begin a new adventure together. Soon after setting up home in Windsor, Ontario, an incident happened that would change her life forever. A home propane gas explosion left Kymm D badly burned and in a coma. During Kymm D’s slow recovery, Tom stood by her side. With Tom’s support, Kymm D became more determined and convinced that she had to live life to fullest. She believes even if you came from nothing, if you believe in yourself, you can accomplish anything.

DJ Kymm D has been featured on Obsessed Radio.Com and at several bars including the Velvet Room & Empire Lounge in Windsor, Ont, The Harmony Lounge, The Century Room, Toi Bar, L’ily Lounge, LOL Lounge, Gallery 636, 703 Bar, Arthur’s, Film Lounge, Eddies on College, Ultra Supper Lounge, Voglie Room, in Toronto. DJ Kymm D produced three Cds: At Last; House March; and Vinyl Sweat. She also hosts her own podcast….SoniCollective@ podOmatic.com, where she creates monthly sets.
