Dancemakers Producing Director Jeanne Holmes Appointed Artistic Producer For Canada Dance Festival

Following a national search, Jeanne Holmes has been named the new Artistic Producer of the Canada Dance Festival (CDF).

Currently the Producing Director of Dancemakers and the Centre for Creation in Toronto, Ms. Holmes has over 20 years of experience in the performing arts. After completing her Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Windsor she immediately started her career in dance, and has built an extensive background in performance, production, programming, and arts management.

As a committed member of the Canadian dance community she currently serves on the CanDance Network Board, holding the Chair position from 2007 – 2010, and is the current Chair of Dusk Dances Toronto. She has also served on the board of such organizations as the Toronto Theatre Alliance (now the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts) and Dancers for Life.

Acclaimed play Topdog/Underdog Still Playing At Obsidian Theatre Company

The 2002 Pulitzer Prize winning play, set in a rundown New York apartment tells the story of two grown brothers as they work through their past, present, and possible futures. The play, which represents contemporary reality as a dog-eat-dog world, dramatises race as a contradiction between dreams of a possible life and the present which is as dangerous as it is illusory.
