Canadian Caravan Brings Humanitarian Aid to El Salvador

The members of Canada’s Caravan of Hope delivered on Wednesday a donation of ambulances and a school bus for three municipalities to the Vice President of El Salvador, Salvador Sanchez Ceren.

The members of the movement, launched after the devastating earthquake of 2001, are Canadian and Latin American migrants led by Ecuadorian priest Hernan Astudillo, from the parish of San Lorenzo, in Toronto.

Caravan of Hope reported that for this eleventh donation, the 18 caravan members traveled over 3,000 miles by road in the last 11 days.

Sanchez Ceren, who is the honorary Minister of Education and one of the historic leaders of the Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front (FMLN), welcomed the donation, and said that it will benefit the poor of the nation.

“Your presence, American and Canadian brothers, highlights the importance of solidarity as a principle and value that should be fundamental in humanity, he said.
