Colour, colour, colour! Welcome back. And some Sneak Peeks…
If anyone has had the time to poke their head into any store at the mall the first thing you would notice is COLOUR!
From Indigos, Fuchsias, Purples, to Lemongrass Yellow thanks to Michelle Obama’s inauguration suit. Colour is back in –in a big way perhaps as a pick f&*k you to the horrible bitter gray ridden weather we have all experienced.

Even OPI new SouthBeach Nail Collection for the Spring/Summer 2009 are bright, hot colors from hot plastic pink to vibrant corals. Oranges in all shades are in again and anything indigo is a must have for your closet for this season.
Bright, primary red trench coat jackets replace the plaid prints from last year, with red patent stiletto pumps to match.
The 90s and 60s:
Crochet backed tops and crochet vests from the 90’s are making a comeback. For those who did not throw them out 15 years ago, go get them out of your closet as yours are now ‘vintage’ and are cool again for wearing the ‘Kelly’ look from Saved By the Bell: College Years.
Coloured jeans and tights in green, purple and blue are back on the market. ‘Cross colors’ like jeans (but better cut) are ‘couture’ again, expect to pay almost $200 for them. Big print t-shirts, sweat shirt dresses, and leggings with stirrups are also back.
And for the earthy look – 60’s chic with a Navajo twist are hitting the stores. Rustic patterns, paisley prints, and cotton smocks are back. T-shirts with feather prints are making a big show this Spring as well as cute cotton dresses that end above your knee with embroidery at the hem and neckline.
For the sultry and flirty look, the maxi-length cotton summer dresses in all types of colours are a staple more than ever this spring/summer. Bubble cap sleeved shirts and vests in flower prints are also blooming in department stores and distressed jeans are still replacing the ‘black pants’. Acid wash may also be coming soon…. *sigh*

And for the daring – keep your eyes peeled for the hot, hot fashion trend that has captured Europe last summer and is making its way slowly to main stream North America…’Aladdin’ pants. Aladdin pants with the tight waistband, baggy legs (circa 90’s MC Hammer pants for those who remember that era) that finish tight and stretchy again at your calves at Capri lengths.
Yes, you heard right, the 1000 Arabian Nights look is coming slowly this summer, you heard it here first. Aladdin pants in all types of colours that you could imagine seeing in a harem from turquoise to sea-shell pink, to aubergine and violent violets. Women in Europe wear Aladdin pants out with T-shirts, and tanks, like women here rock Yoga wear for everyday use. Women in clubs from Barcelona to Rome would rock the Aladdin pants with cute halter tops to half tops and wearing the jeweled hair accessories with the ‘must have’ gladiator sandals blinged or not blinged. For the fashion forward keep your eyes peeled for this trend to hit your hot spots this summer.
