Toronto Fringe Theatre Festival 2012

Today marks the start of the 24th annual Toronto Fringe Festival and this year is one of their biggest ones yet.  There will be 155 companies presenting a variety of shows.

The Fringe is not just theatre by the way. They will  host an interactive pedestrian artist market showcasing the talent of 15 Toronto-based visual artists. There will be micro-plays bringing theatre to the small tents and sheds as part of their AlleyPlays. It all goes down in the Fringe Club behind Honest Ed’s.

If you have never Fringed before, the Fringe is much more than just great shows. This year, the Fringe Club is packed with free daily programming for you to explore and enjoy. Starting tomorrow,  July 5, they’ll be hosting Tent Talks with the theme “Theatre is Dead. Long Live Theatre!” While you’re there, you can stick around for the Open Mic entertainment at the outdoor stage every night from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.

There are so many shows and part of the treat is to discover a new favourite one.
