Other cities such as Jerusalem (the capital), Haifa (north) and Beershab (South Central) also held demonstrations in support of of Moshe Silman 57. In Jerusalem, several protesters were arrested after an attempt to block a street.

This is the “manifestation of anger,” said Yael Ben Yefet, one of the organizers of the protest during which he read the note Silman left before committing self-immolation, in which accused the government of Israel for having “stolen everything.”

“The State of Israel has stolen everything from me, left me with nothing. I blame Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu (Prime Minister) and Yuval Steinitz (Finance Minister) for the continued humiliation that citizens have to endure day after day. It takes from the poor to give to the rich, “said the letter.

In Tel Aviv the protesters managed to block some streets. While drivers waited for traffic to restart some drivers left their vehicles and joined the protest.

“I hope this helps. Here we always have protests and no one ever helps us, “said driver Inbar Peace.

In Haifa, where Silman lived, protests attracted hundreds of people carrying placards that read: “The whole nation is Moshe Silman” and “This is not a personal tragedy, but the result of evil policies.”

The reference to “personal tragedy” is in reference to the reaction of Netanyahu, who had defined as such what happened Monday at a meeting with ministers from his party.
