Cameron Concerned about Internet List of Alleged Pedophiles

British Prime Minister David Cameron fears a “witch-hunt” because of a list circulating on the Internet with names of senior Conservative politicians involved in a pedophile net.

At the program ITV1 ‘s This Morning the Minister expressed his concern about those involved in allegations of child sexual abuse that appear on the list and particularly homosexuals.

The Conservative Party leader expressed concern about the Internet speculations about possible charges of children abuse in foster homes in Wales between 1970 and 1980.

On Tuesday, Home Secretary Theresa May announced a new police inquiry into such allegations.

Those with information about any pedophile, regardless of the position they own or if they are alive or dead, should go to the police, Cameron claimed during his speech.

Among the main issues to be investigated, are the 28 suspected authors of the pedophile network identified in the Waterhouse report, whose names were protected and includes a high Tory of Margaret Thatcher administration (1979-1990).

In the early 90s, allegations of abuse in almost 40 British children’s homes began to be public, which is the biggest scandal in the history of child protection services.

Guatemala: Death Toll May Increase After Intense Quake

Guatemalan government thinks the number of 48 deaths may increase today, after the quake measuring 7.2 on the Richter scale, registered on Wednesday.

The quake also left 150 injured, and 23 missing, said the President of Guatemala, Otto Perez Molina.

The number may increase in the coming hours, the head of State warned, who noted the National Institute of Seismology, Volcanology, Meteorology and Hydrology (Insivumeh) has counted 19 aftershocks of between 4.2 to 4.6 on the aforementioned scale.

According to Perez Molina, the scientific body assesses the aftershocks as positive because they release energy and avoid another earthquake with the magnitude of the one recorded at 10:35 local time (16:35 GMT), the second most intense since the devastating one in 1976.

The president thanked his counterparts in Venezuela, Hugo Chavez, Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega, Costa Rica, Laura Chinchilla, Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos, Panama, Ricardo Martinelli, Mexico, Enrique Peña Nieto and Honduras, Porfirio Lobo for their solidarity and condolence calls.

He said the secretary of the Organization of American States (OAS), Jose Miguel Insulza, tried to communicate by telephone and sent a letter of sympathy.

So far, the departments of San Marcos, Quetzaltenango, Retalhuleu, Solola, Quiche, Huehuetenango and Tonicapan are the most affected.

According to Insivumeh, the epicenter was off the coast of Champerico, Retalhuleu, 170 kilometers southwest of the capital; the National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction was declared on institutional red alert to assist with the emergency.

The quake was perceptible throughout the country except in the northern region of Peten and caused fallen phone lines, blackouts and housing collapses in different parts of the nation.

Hundreds of Guatemalans ran terrified through the streets of the capital after the quake this Wednesday.

Guatemala frequently suffers earthquakes, one of the most notorious happening on February 4, 1976 of 7.6 on the Richter scale and a death toll of about 23,000 dead with 76,000 injured.

Planet that Could Support Life Discovered

European experts have discovered a planet outside the Solar System, whose weather conditions will allow for some kind of life, according to a study published in Astronomy & Astrophysics magazine.

The planet, receives a quantity of energy similar to the one gets to the Earth coming from the Sun, and there are nights and days in it, something that increases the possibility that it might be habitable, highlights the research.

It also says there is presence of liquid water and a stable atmosphere for possible life forms, and is likely to rotate on its own axis.

The super-earth is part of a system of six worlds that rotate around a star -HD 40307- 42 light years away from our planet.

This type of discovery is very exciting, and are study targets for the next generation of high powered telescopes, said David Pinfield from the University of Hertfordshire, UK.
