International Festival of Authors Reveals New Names in 2014 Line-up

Participants include Emma Donoghue, Eimear McBride and Colm Tóibín

IFOA has announced 20 new participants in the 35th edition of the International Festival of Authors, which takes place October 23 to November 2, 2014. For 11 days this fall, the IFOA will present literary talent from across the globe in a number of events, including readings, panel discussions, onstage interviews and free book signings.

The Festival’s line-up currently includes over 70 authors writing in genres from literary fiction to thriller to poetry. Expect critically acclaimed Canadian novelists Caroline Adderson, David Bezmozgis, Charles Foran, Steven Galloway, Kathryn Kuitenbrouwer and Michael Winter; Irish heavy hitters Sebastian Barry and Colm Tóibín; crime fiction specialists Jeffery Deaver and James Ellroy; international bestselling novelist Emma Donoghue; talented British author Esther Freud; award-winning South African writer Damon Galgut; the winner of the 2014 Poetry NOW competition, Catherine Graham; actress and debut novelist Anna Hope; Canadian-born French writer Nancy Huston; the 2014 Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction winner, Eimear McBride; Pulitzer Prize-winning author Marilynne Robinson; celebrated Australian author Christos Tsiolkas; Scottish suspense expert Louise Welsh and many others.

Tickets to YoungIFOA, the annual children’s reading series held during the Festival, are also on sale now. Please call 416-973-4760 to see Robin Stevenson, Rebecca Upjohn and Renné Benoit, winners of this year’s Forest of Reading® Silver Birch® Fiction and Silver Birch® Express awards, on October 23, and Susin Nielson, winner of the Red Maple™ Award, on October 24! Tickets are $5 (reading only) and $14 (with bookplate-making workshop).

Available again this year is a Festival Flex Pass. This is a chance to purchase a bundle of 10 tickets for one low price of $120 (plus a service charge). Purchase a Festival Flex Pass to reserve tickets in advance without committing to specific performances and save money! Tickets can be obtained over the phone or in person for any regular-priced event ($18) during the Festival in any combination, subject to availability.
