Toronto’s premier LGBT Film and Video Festival’s 19th features this time around over 200 films and videos from over 30 countries. Among all the parties, receptions and panel discussions there is a myriad of different perspectives and points of view. It will draw over 32,000 people to screenings and there is a very strong Canadian contingent this year.

Among the buzz worthy highlights Patrik, Age 1.5 by Ella Lemhagen, in essence a family drama that deftly blends both drama and humor and a twist; Baby Love (Comme les autres) by Vincent Garenq was an incredible hit in its native France, and deal s with adoption. If you have not caught on just yet this year’s festival is quite focuses on gay families, likely a good idea considering events south of the border.

There is also a strong contingent of women with Canada’s The Baby Formula by Alison Reid about two lesbians wanting a kid, but their own biological one with yet another twist; Benni Has 2 Mothers by Vivid Tjipura, it’s a South African movie that deals with the ins and outs of South Africa’s seemingly advanced social policy.

If you add to this a big focus on France, there are films for everyone’s taste!
