Alternavox Recommends: Sex, Relationships and Sometimes…Love

By Mikhail Saavedra

One of the big goals here at Alternavox is to promote in any way possible local talent. When I first heard of “Sex, Relationships and Sometimes…Love” I knew I had a winner and something that would fit our mandate perfectly. Consider the following: The play has been running uninterrupted in New York City for the last 6 years, it has toured in several cities in the US and relaunched in Los Angeles as well.

The play looks in a more honest way at the real relationships we have with one another. They range from vain to sexual to selfish to enlightened. Writer Joelle Arqueros in fact wrote this play partly as a response to not having enough roles she could perform in which is why it has such wide diversity to it. Ultimately the play was designed to give a wider playing field to many different actors at once. Under the sure handed direction of Ryan Singh this seems destined for success.

It is for that reason that Alternavox is happy to recommend this play which will feature dozens of local actors, some of them top performing artists. If you want to hear a little honesty in theatre you would do well to check this unique and rich GLADD nominated hit.

Stay tuned for a more in depth article on how this unique performance piece came to Toronto.
