Aux Rox!

This past Thanksgiving weekend, in-between family gatherings and eating/drinking too much I managed to spend some time checking out some of the fantastic line-up on the new AUX.TV. It officially crossed over from a popular web site to broadcast television on Oct 1st with the tagline “Real music television is here”. It’s hard not to agree with this statement considering how solid and diverse the shows are. How nice it is to turn on my television and see high-quality indie-music videos that previously would have required digging around on YouTube for a small grainy viewing.

Some of the highlights so far include the ‘alt.sessions’which featured The Arkells jamming after-hours in a Hamilton mall food court and Shad dropping a freestyle in the basement of record store Sonic Boom on Bloor St. West. The whole programming is very GTA centric, so you’ll see lots of familiar spots and new ones you didn’t even know about!

Being an Audio nerd I am also a big fan of the show Master Tracks where a song is taken from demo to download in one day and one studio session. Check out: http://.aux.tv.com for a full line of shows and tons of videos. One of my favourite vids that is currently on rotation is Two Hours Traffic’s “Nighthawks.”
