February marks a new beginning for Alternavox. With this issue we start our very own short film festival, a festival of short films that will feature the very best our city has to offer. This is the beginning of a concerted effort to promote creative expression on many different levels. With that in mind, we encourage all those involved in film, in any way shape or form, to contact us about their short films which may be included as part of our monthly rotation at the email below. 
This is one of the many dedicated ways Alternavox will pursue the goal to promote and highlight all the film/acting/writing/editing talent in this city. Every month we will bring to you a high quality short that we hope will be both technologically astounding, as well as emotionally engaging. With that in mind, it is our distinct pleasure to introduce to you, our audience, this month’s very first short by one of the best young filmmakers in this city (who also happens to appear in the film). Writer/Director Peter Diaz with the support of a very talented technical crew and the unique acting talent of Sandy Duarte honestly manages to convey with her incredible range, intensity, and allure, the powerful romantic story that fills the spirit of this month. It may just be a beginning for Alternavox Boxoffice, but what an auspicious beginning it is.
The story shows us one young woman’s inner-most thoughts and memories as she journeys to a place where a special someone’s fingerprints still rest, his kisses still linger, and his whispers softly echo. A place where a part of him will forever be a part of her.
An Aurora Borealis Films and High Flight Films production, in association with 4th River Studios, PRELUDE stars Sandy Duarte, Peter Diaz and Michael John Thomas. Produced by Grant Sturgeon, the film features the cinematography of Conor Fisher and was edited by Dennis Chan. “Chord Sounds”, written and performed by Moby, scores the film
