Bat for Lashes

After a much anticipated wait Natasha Khan a.k.a Bat for Lashes, a.k.a Pearl finally releases Two Suns on April 6th, 2009. Moving away from songs about the animal kingdom and magical castles in her debut release Fur and Gold, Two Suns drops a more organic inspired album by the likes of Tori Amos, Kate Bush and PJ Harvey with the theme of album being duality. If you haven’t already guessed, the theme of duality is scattered among the album with song names like Moon and Moon, Two Planets, Two Suns and having a split personality via Pearl – her destructive, self-absorbed blonde-haired alter-ego.

Putting Khan’s rather eccentric personality aside, the album is a definitive work of the genius of Bat for Lashes. Glass the album opener which starts with the faint ambient noise of New York’s JMZ line roaring in the background, rips into a spinning rage of drum and snare backed up by Khan’s ghostly ethereal voice. little polar bear the dvdrip download bound divx download proof online and on the clap and synth beat of Pearl’s Dream, while Scott Walker contributes to the bleak, haunting piano chords of Big Sleep. Although not nearly as fantastical as Fur and Gold, her sophomore release compensates with sounds ranging from the atmospheric, psychedelic experiments of Two Planets to the upbeat nature of Daniel or Pearl’s Dream to many piano ballads such as Travelling Woman mildly reminiscent of a Lilith Fair road song. While Natasha Khan’s fascination with face paint, fur and feathers and Karate Kid Daniel LaRocco (check out the album cover for the single Daniel) can be nothing short of eccentric, Khan or rather “Pearl” is one of those artists incapable of producing a bad song.
