Cleansing Your Way to Health

Everyone knows that good hygiene practices help to maintain better health. This is why we brush our teeth, bathe, wash our hands, and maintain a clean living environment on a regular basis; but have you ever stopped to think about cleaning your internal self?

Toxicity is of great concern, now more so than ever before. A toxin is defined as any substance that creates irritating and/or harmful effects on the body. We are subjected to toxins on a daily basis in the form of strong and harmful chemicals, air and water pollution, radiation, secondary smoke, pesticides, stress and/or constant use of drugs. We also ingest many chemicals, eat more sugar and refined foods, and abuse ourselves with stimulants and sedatives. These toxins accumulate in our body and burden our major organs such as the liver and large intestine. Our immune system has to work overtime in order to rid our body of these nasty chemicals. This weakening of the immune system leads to an increased susceptibility to common toxic build-up symptoms such as headache, fatigue, joint pains, sinus congestion, obesity, digestive problems, allergies, sensitivity to environmental agents such as chemicals, perfumes, and synthetics, frequent colds, irritability, skin problems, premature aging, depression, hearing loss, heart disease, degenerative diseases, and cancer to list a few.

Cleansing is necessary to rid our body of such accumulated toxins. The main organs involved in the removal of harmful substances include our liver, colon, kidney, lungs, skin, and lymphatic system. In order for our body to effectively remove the toxins, a cleansing program should focus on improving the function of all the eliminative organs of the body, as they all work together to render the body less toxic, rather than just focusing on one organ such as the colon. Cleansing also involves dietary and lifestyle changes, increased water intake and fiber consumption. The benefits of a cleansing program are immediate and immeasurable. Effects of cleansing include improved emotional balance, decreased allergic reactions, lessened pain, headaches, digestive issues, improved mental clarity and memory, enhanced stamina, energy and endurance, as well as significant weight loss and increased lean muscle mass. Cravings disappear and substance abuse is decreased.

Although we live in a toxic environment with constant exposure to harmful substances, it is possible to counteract their adverse effects. With the right knowledge and tools, our bodies have a gift of being able to expel toxins quite readily to maintain utmost health in a not so healthy world.
