World Recognition Follows as Camila Vallejo is Chosen “Person Of The Year” by The Guardian.

The choice of Camila Vallejo among voters’ preferences in a survey by international media organizations has made headlines around the world and in her birth country of Chile.

Local media highlighted the results of a poll carried out by the British newspaper “The Guardian” to elect the “person of the year”, Vallejo who led the voting with an unprecedented 89 percent of the votes, just a few hours before the deadline to close the survey.

Camila is followed by Mohammed Bouazizi (2.9% of the votes), the young Tunisian man who set himself on fire on December 17, 2010, and whose immolation is considered the spark that triggered the riots of the so-called Arab Spring in a dozen nations.

Last week, the Chilean youth leader was also included in the traditional list of the most influential people of the year published by the U.S. magazine Time, which described her as “a charismatic 23-year-old, left-wing undergraduate.”
